I salute President Biden on getting America out of Afghanistan and stand squarely behind him. Like Vietnam and Iraq, Afghanistan was a misguided military adventure America had no business pursuing, and every American life lost in these fiascoes was wasted.
We got nothing out of any of them, except endless lies from our civilian and military leaders, from start to finish.
Let's not forget who got us into Afghanistan and Iraq -- George W. Bush, who was the worst president in American history, until Donald Trump. Trump, a malignant narcissist, white supremacist, inveterate liar, admitted sex assaulter and a cheating crook, was so horrible that America forgot how bad Bush was.
It was Trump's inept deal-making that aided the Taliban victory in Afghanistan. In his peace dealings with the Taliban, Trump brilliantly announced America would be leaving, and at the same time, didn't include the American-backed Afghanistan government in the peace talks.
The Taliban knew all they had to do was wait for America's departure, which they did, and so won the war against the most powerful military in human history. To the eternal shame of the U.S. military, the Afghan forces they trained for 20 years didn't put up even token resistance.
Now America can take the billions spent per month for 20 years in Afghanistan and spend the money where it will do some good.
Congratulations, President Biden, you had the courage and intelligence to do the right thing.
