Think another country’s ever going to side with us?

2 min read

I'm occasionally asked why and when did I become a Republican.

I grew up in a staunch Democratic home; if Lucifer himself ran for president, my folks would have voted for him.

As an in-country Vietnam vet, I changed parties in 1975. The reason was because of how the Democratically controlled Congress handled the end of the Vietnam War.

Read, "An American Amnesia" by Bruce Herschensohn.

The Paris Peace Accords were signed in January of 1973, after bombing North Vietnam into submission. We left Vietnam, but the agreement promised to supply South Vietnam, should the North attack.

When the attack came, the Congress broke its agreement and withheld funds. I think it's important to note here that one of the most vocal on the matter, was a freshman senator named Joe Biden.

Here are a couple of his more nauseating quotes: "I do not believe the United States has an obligation, moral or otherwise, to evacuate foreign nationals" or "The United States has no obligation to evacuate one, or 100,001, South Vietnamese."

The outcome is now history, millions were killed, millions more sent to reeducation camps, some for decades.

So now we fast forward to August 2021 and the same Joe Biden, along with the current Democratically controlled Congress, is in the process of doing the same thing in Afghanistan.

Do you really think another country on earth is ever going to believe "We have your back if you side with us"?

I think not!
