Stop bullish tactics for control by those who have no plan

1 min read

Maui Tomorrow and individuals who support their effort to preserve Maui's communities are horribly misguided.

To publicly say that Wailuku redevelopment should be eliminated would be a disaster to the original plan that was conceived by concerned Wailuku community members who were given the authority by the federal government to end blight in our community.

Since the year 2000, results have shown that development that requires County Council approval works in congruence with community stakeholders.

Bullish tactics have been used by individuals have no connection with Wailuku Town or its citizens.

Gentrification, if managed well, will benefit the high native population and Maui's at-risk communities with economic development in jobs.

Let's look at the progress: Iao Theater as the hub of artistic endeavors, Wailuku Street fairs and street-side beautification.

It safe to say that citizen involvement included direct stakeholders to determine the social and economic well-being of its community. Let's stop the bullish tactics for control because these individuals have no plan and are not connected to Wailuku Town.
