Why has DOE decided to ignore science?

In an age when we are constantly told to “follow the science,” why is it that our state’s Department of Education has decided to completely ignore science?

Case in point: My third-grade granddaughter is currently in a 10-day quarantine (again) because a classmate tested positive for COVID.

Where is the science in this idiotic decision? Children are not major vectors of transmission. Even if they were, we now know that even vaccinated people can transmit COVID.

Here in Hawaii, essentially every adult who wanted a vaccine has gotten at least one shot and most have two or more.

Of the 75 million Americans under the age of 18, the number of otherwise healthy children who have died from COVID is statistically zero.

To put this into perspective, during this same pandemic time, over 50,000 children have died from other causes.

We know all this because we have the data. What we don’t know is the damage being done to our keiki from constant quarantines, daily mask-wearing and a climate of fear that is not justified by the science.
