The Maui News recently carried an AP report on the severe problem of "battery pileups" in the Gaza Strip.
And what of Maui's battery disposal program? Nothing. Nada. Null option. Island residents and visitors are forced to trash millions of batteries that will forever leach poisonous lead into the soil and water of Maui.
Are visitors to weigh down their luggage by taking batteries home to places that face and manage the problem?
