Best way to lead is by example
While I would like to congratulate Chief Pelletier on the recent Lahaina drug bust and welcome him to Maui, I must pause, and question the new chief’s insistence on a pay hike from a “mere” $158,000, (far more than most Maui residents) to $205,000.
At a time when Maui is struggling to retain qualified police officers, it makes me wonder whether the chief’s motive is truly to “serve and protect” our community.
I learned many years ago as a U.S. Army officer that the best way to lead is by example.
