Let's be frank: Those in positions of wealth and power will never voluntarily give up their power to profit from corruption.
I believe it is undeniable that a small minority of people in all countries, elected or unelected, run their countries for their own benefit.
These people are like the officer corps in the military of any country. They will sacrifice millions of young men, to maintain the privileges of a few. And they will do this until the people revolt, mutiny or resort to violence.
There is only a small difference between sending millions of men charging out of trenches to their death, and killing people, because of lack of medical care, a living wage, a place to live or a job.
If not for the nonsense of rationalization, which people tell themselves -- things like they deserve their privileges, because of their bloodline; or because they are "self-made"; or because they have been chosen by God, due to their "moral superiority"; and all their other self-proclaimed rights to live like kings -- people of even slight conscience, would be unable to look themselves in a mirror.
"Luxury is the cemetery of the spirit. Luxury is not beauty. Not knowledge. Not construction. Not benevolence. Not compassion. It is destruction of resources and possibilities. Luxury is dissolution, for all structures without rhythm mean only disintegration." -- Unknown.
