Maui Police Department has done a great job educating keiki about wearing bicycle helmets for safety.
They have a new task ahead and so do parents. Kids are out of control on electric scooters.
Two or three on one scooter wheeling down the roads and on sidewalks at high speeds is not unusual. They barely slow down at intersections, and they are very hard to see.
They fly through the roundabout on Lipoa Street and don't using the crossing warning lights to make drivers aware.
They probably should be wearing helmets while using electric scooters, too.
By the way, it's laughingly unbelievable that no one on your staff has noticed or corrected the incorrect spelling of Kahului under the Maui County Weather column. It has been wrong for eons.
