Regarding the Lahaina fire, Gov. Josh Green announced early that the state attorney general would be conducting what will now be a year-long investigation.

The U.S. House of Representatives has announced its own investigation and the parties to numerous lawsuits will all be calling on their own experts to testify in support of their positions. These experts will presumably need to conduct their own investigations.

Now, Maui County Council is now considering its own investigation.

It would appear there will be much redundancy, overlap and confusion as these investigations take place.

The council should spend its energies and resources making those affected by the fires whole again.

There will be tons of investigative reports. Later, they can pick and choose.
