As the clock ticked down to midnight for the New Year, the sounds of loud booms and crackling fireworks could be heard and seen from my lanai in Wailuku. My dog Lexi was in a frenzy state of mind the entire night. The display of fireworks was just amazing.
New Year's Day was a relaxing time at home binge-watching movies. The evening changed rapidly for me. I began having an increasing tingling sensation in my mouth. In the span of about 30 minutes, I decided to drive myself to Maui Memorial Medical Center emergency room. I was having an allergic reaction from some of my medications.
What happened within the hour of my arrival was unbelievable. The emergency room doctors, nurses and technicians saved my life. I was admitted to the ICU and woke up with tubes coming out of my body from a lot of places. I was discharged and able to return home 39 hours after entering the emergency room.
I'm a veteran and a senior who wishes to recognize the life-saving individuals that work at Maui Memorial Medical Center.
Thank you all for saving my life.
