Each day while walking or out on errands I see, without any real effort, many vehicles with expired registration.
They are parked on public roads and driving on public roads, they are everywhere.
I keep my registration and safety check up to date, which also means my insurance is paid up.
This, I think, is the primary reason many registrations are delinquent, lack of insurance.
How is it that these vehicles get to use our roads with registration that has expired long ago?
I think it's time to end their free pass. Maui Police Department needs to be given the ability to deal with these vehicles on the spot.
How about booting and towing them until they are brought up to date? I know, they have to go get safety checked, that would be hard.
There needs to be some form of consequence so the rest of us don't feel like we are suckers carrying the load for them.
