The Trumpies are banging on Joe Biden to do something about illegal immigration.
To do the job safely and efficiently and humanely, thousands of new hires will have to be recruited and interviewed and trained.
Federal employees will have to be re-assigned from other posts. Each one has to be checked to see what kind of a record he or she has. Then someone has to compute how much of a relocation allowance they will get.
Doctors and nurses have to be recruited in adequate numbers and there is a serious shortage of nurses. And probably most of these new hires will be members of a union and the terms of their contracts will have to be observed.
Meanwhile, there are thousands who will happily work for minimum wage at jobs Americans won't do. And, as a matter of fact, American farmers and factory owners have jobs for these people if only they could enter this country legally.
So, the Biden people put together a plan to deal with the problem. Apparently, it took them almost three years to do it (for all of the above reasons and more) and it actually looked like it was going to pass through Congress and become law.
And then Donald Trump called a few of his stooges in the House of Representatives and the immigration bill was voted down. Why? Because Trump says it would make Joe Biden look good.
Now that's just the kind of guy we need running the country.
