Mahalo piha to Maui County for once again sponsoring a household hazardous waste collection.
The continued partnership with Cameron Chemical Corp. has resulted in this well organized annual collection that keeps batteries, yard chemicals, oil-based paint and many other hazardous items out of the landfill.
The event is Sunday, April 7 and the deadline to register is this Thursday, March 28.
There were still appointments available as of Friday so it is not too late to call.
For more information, search for recycling at www.MauiCounty.gov and look for the link for household hazardous waste in the first paragraph on the recycling page.
To make an appointment, call Cameron Chemical during business hours at 808-695-2999. They will ask you for a list of what you are bringing.
Every year, I remind my friends and neighbors a few times during the year and offer to take their waste to the collection site at the landfill if that is easier.
A special shout-out to Maui County's recycling specialists in the Environmental Protection and Sustainability Division for their speedy responses to numerous inquiries and their unfailing aloha.
