Maui County would not clean up the South Maui beaches after tons of debris ended up on the beaches after the storm in January.
The debris consisted of burnt wood, large rocks, big tree limbs and a host of plastic, rubber and plastic foam.
It made it difficult for the local Maui seniors to negotiate the sand on their way to the ocean.
These Maui Seniors decided to do what the county could not do by taking the junk off of the beach.
After just an hour or raking and filling garbage bags with all this junk, the seniors felt they had made a small dent into making the beach beautiful again and more manageable for them to walk to the ocean.
