I have been noticing for the last few months that Poolenalena Beach Park has become an overnight camp for whoever wants to roll in and set up, any time of day.
The gate is always open, in spite of posted open/close times.
I realize we have some serious housing issues here on Maui, but this is essentially making a public park into a semi-permanent home to many folks and camper vans that are rented.
This is unfair to the rest of the population that uses the park.
I'd love to have free beach front accommodations.
Our county officials seem to be selecting areas to cede to whoever wants to occupy them. This results in extra maintenance needs, restricted use by the rest of us and the appearance of no control or regard for the rules.
