Last year after the Lahaina fire my wife and I were so devastated that we donated $50,000 to Maui now! We received no acknowledgement till, months later, I inquired to get a receipt for tax purposes. They took awhile to even find we had donated and then sent a form letter? That was way short on thanks. We wonder, is Maui now! legitimate?
As an aside, we also sent $3000 to a carpenter we discovered through a Maui connection when we discovered the carpenter had been wiped out in the fire. This money he used to buy new tools so he could get back to work. He sent us a very thankful letter.
We would like to be assured the $50,000 we sent to Maui now! and was earmarked specifically to help Lahaina victims was actually used for that.
