Understand Maui wild fires by looking at past politics
You have to look into the past to understand the Maui wild fires.
Gov. David Ige was in charge of the state. Alan Arakawa was the mayor during the 2018 fire and Mike Victorino was in charge after that. Did any of them listen to a report that showed there was a problem with West Maui fire danger?
Of course not. It wasn’t their idea about who voted for them.
If you have any questions as to whom may be at fault, look to the past politicians who only cared about votes, not the care of the people in outlying areas.
