Letter: Witness early shadows of the exile of the soul

2 min read

Sometimes leaders lead; sometimes the consciousness of the people is more advanced.

There are times, however, when the people share with the leaders the same state of mind.

They seek harmony through conflict. Then neither leader nor led finds equilibrium, peace, gainful suffering, high purpose or virtue.

When leaders fight leaders and people their neighbors, pursuit of knowledge and reconciliation are lost endeavors.

The world fills with refusal and denial of ideas beyond the consciousness and imagination of the many. Thinkers then too often think only of themselves, while the thoughtless cling to secondhand information, opinion, experience and belief.

People begin to project and find favor with simple symbols and slogans. Their certainty resembles the hollow green onion stalk.

Trust, truth, honesty, statesmanship, wisdom and service to others all but disappear.

The ancient Puranas foretell of a time when enmity between people and peoples darken the light on the path of the soul.

This foretold darkness will be unlike the ignorance and slavery of Europe's Dark Age. It will be of much shorter duration, but far worse during the eclipse or sunset of the soul.

Fear, doubt, despair, peril, plague, corruption, hypocrisy and criminality will blot out the sacred spark in the hearts of men. And, at present, we are only at the cusp or dusk of this darkness.

We are unknowingly congregating to witness the early shadows of the exile of the soul.
