Maui County Council keeps paying out taxpayer money to a private law firm in Honolulu to defend the county from numerous documented allegations of corruption by a citizen resident whistleblower who worked for the county.
They are authorizing now almost half a million dollars instead of working with the whistleblower, who is representing himself. He even got the county attorneys and a judge to recuse themselves for conflicts of interest.
Even a former director of corporation counsel and county auditor are now being named as well as a well-known engineering firm. And the judge in the case, has compelled discovery withheld by the county for years and even sanctioned them.
This pro-se whistleblower is demonstrating the power of the truth and perseverance.
Maui County Council Members should be ashamed of themselves for perpetuating harm to the whistleblower, and turning a blind-eye to corruption harming the county for decades.
