There are three main theories of human evolution.
There is the Darwinian theory, which addresses physical changes over long periods of time.
There is the fundamental Christian theory which suggests that human evolution followed upon an initial creation by a personal God, who set the process of slow change in motion.
There is an older view which implied that any such theory of development must include human will, human intention, destiny, inspiration and selfless sacrifice.
In other words, one must not omit the most important element: Individual human consciousness.
I am not defining "consciousness" as "intellectual awareness," but something more primary, fundamental, universal and essential.
In fact, this deep, primal, evolving potential is our sole possession. It alone is capable of persistence through all human states and planes of existence.
Returning to our theories, one might state that aside from "minor" adjustments and adaptations, our physical form is well-nigh complete.
It is highly functional; symmetrical and beautiful; efficient and importantly self-equilibrating. Most of man's future changes will include adaptations and developments of the human brain and its faculties. This is necessary for the brain, through a more organized and illumined mind, to receive, recognize, sort, store and transmit from higher ranges of consciousness.
Such changes will not depend upon aeons; chance or random mutations, but on focused and self-sacrificing efforts; will power and discipline; timely and beneficial karma, higher knowledge and consciously intensified intention.
