Letter: Not just kupuna problem, but everyone’s problem

When the Social Security check doesn’t arrive, who picks up the tab?

Are you college-bound next year and expecting a little financial help along the way from your parents? If the checks stop and your elder relatives are about to lose their home or can’t afford groceries, will there be money for your college expenses?

For the average American household, there is not enough disposable income to maintain three generations. Heck, there’s barely enough for most us of to keep one household fed.

Are you in your 30s or 40s? That ohana trip to Disneyland that you saved for over many years is off the table if your elderly family member needs financial help.

Your bucket list is now a list of unattainable dreams for you, your children and your elderly relatives who were invited to come along and visit Snow White in person.

Everyone’s quality of life will be affected. Everyone except the multi-millionaires and billionaires in the White House who are attacking Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

This is not a kupuna problem. It’s everyone’s problem. Stay alert. Act accordingly.
