Letter: There seems to be no end to elder abuse in America

In 1950, there were 2,300 people who were 100 years old or older in America.

Today, there are over 100,000 centenarians. Medical Technology has improved people’s health tremendously.

The World Health Organization estimated only one in 24 cases in elder abuse gets reported.

In one Florida study, only 7 percent of elder abuse is reported and 2/3 of the abusers are family.

Victims of elder abuse have a 300 percent higher mortality rate then seniors living in a safe environment.

Seniors who experience financial abuse lose at a low estimate $2.6 billion a year in America alone.

There is no end to elder abuse.
