Letter: Burning so wrong in neighborhood
Did you know that the fire department doesn’t issue or have any control over agriculture burning permits?
They are actually issued by the state Department of Health, with basic concerns about smoke.
Somehow, this seems so wrong. After all the fires Maui has suffered, my genius neighbors think that burning is the best way to get rid of green waste.
Yes, this is an agricultural property of four acres, but also located in a very developed neighborhood.
They apparently don’t care about the surrounding neighborhood.
Many people have complained to the fire department, but unfortunately, they can’t do anything, creating a dangerous situation for everyone.
