Letter: Would consider voting for Donald J. Trump again

By Matt Drozd 2 min read

I voted twice for President Trump and would consider doing it again if the opposing candidate leaned extreme left. My first choice for President, however, was a moderate that leaned slightly right but unfortunately was not nominated by their party.

As most Americans including myself consider themselves moderates, I sense that we, "the silent majority", are fast becoming tired of the far left and right extremists. Like many Americans, it seems we are always left with little alternative but to vote for the lesser of two evils.

It appears that our President, like many leaders of the world, are acting with their ego rather than common sense. With inflation out of control, our Presidents sensationalistic antics, his degradation of our Allies, and no end state to another tumultuous war caused by him; I sadly feel it is time for President Trump to recognize his shortcomings and possibly step aside for a President of common sense. If not, Congress needs to rise above party politics and seriously consider his impeachment.

Surely, we must all agree that any of us would be fired by our employers if we went against their wishes and received such low performance ratings.

Should this not hold true for our President or any elected official for that matter.

When drafting the constitution, our forefathers ultimately viewed impeachment as an essential safety valve to protect our country from tyranny, foreign corruption and abuse of power. One might say that many questionable actions by our President such as accepting a multi-million-dollar aircraft from a foreign power, threatening to annihilate a nation, or his offer to send a $5,000 “dividend” to every adult American if the Republican Party retains control of Congress could warrant his impeachment

Our Congress needs to heed the words of President Teddy Roosevelt, “To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
