Jamie Stiehm: Trump's tawdry and gaudy birthday party

WASHINGTON — No, friends, Romans, countrymen, it wasn't enough to murder the White House Rose Garden. It wasn't enough to tear down its stately East Wing, where guests gathered and mingled. It wasn't enough to brandish "Donald J. Trump" over "John F. Kennedy" on the marble wall of the ...

Letter: Speed bumps necessary for once mellow roads

Speed bumps are a valued addition to our once mellow roads. Speeding needs be curtailed and any damage allegedly caused by them is the fault of the speeder. If you are not speeding, no issue. They offered suggestions for other places to take cardboard, newspapers, glass. plastic and cans. These were in Makawao, Haiku, Kihei and Olowalu. It seems ridiculous that there will be nowhere in Central Maui provided by the county for people to take their recycling. Wailuku and Kahului are the most populated areas for local residents. People are simply going to throw these recyclable materials in their trash if there isn't a more convenient ...

JD Vance said on Friday that the U.S. wins "either way" in negotiations with Iran. "If we make the final deal, then great," Vance told HBO's Bill Maher. "If we don't make the final deal, their nuclear program is still destroyed. They're still much weaker as a country." Just hours after ...
