Jerico San Agustin of Kiffmann’s Maui Elite Taekwondo won the black-belt title in Cadet (12-14) Division 33-kilogram sparring at the World Taekwondo President’s Cup that took place Oct. 27 to Sunday in the Oregon Convention Center in Portland.
San Agustin won all five of his matches by a combined score of 87-40 — capped with a 20-8 victory over California’s Kyle Zarate, a member of the Cadet national team, in the gold-medal bout.
The title for San Agustin gave him a wild-card spot in next year’s Pan Am Championships.
