Saturday--The Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui's Rotary Helping Women golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday at Pukalani Country Club. The tournament is a fundraiser for Women Helping Women, which offers emergency shelter and programs for victims of domestic violence. The single entry fee is $100 in advance, $120 at the door. The two-player team fee is $200 in advance, $240 at the door. Players may also purchase mulligan tickets for $5 apiece (limit two per player). Sponsorship opportunities as well as ball drop tickets (five for $20) are available. Monetary and prize donations are also welcome. To register, visit upcountrymauirotary.org. Sept. 10--The Hawaii Pearls Maui softball club team will be conduct tryouts on Sept. 10 at Central Maui Regional Sports Complex No. 4 in Kahului. Tryouts for 14-and-under and 16-and-under teams are scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m., and 10-and-under tryouts are set for 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Contact: Lei Nakamura (text message) 344-5084.
Sept. 23--The Maui Police Department and the Maui Fire Department will meet in a softball game at 6 p.m. on Sept. 23 at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku to raise funds for the Pacific Cancer Foundation. Admission will cost $5 for adults and $3 for youths 12 and under, or will be free with the purchase of a "Go Pink" MPD or MFD T-shirt or by bringing one canned good to donate to the Maui Food Bank.

Sept. 30--The Maui Swim & Fin, a benefit for the Special Olympics Maui swim team, is scheduled for Sept. 30 at the Kihei Aquatic Center. Registration is to begin at 8 a.m., and swimming will begin at 8:45. Each entrant must collect a minimum donation of $35, and will receive a T-shirt.
