Noireaux, Hauser win Aloha Classic championships
Morgan Noireaux claimed his third Aloha Classic title Saturday at Hookipa Beach Park in Kuau, winning a men’s pro final in which all four competitors were separated by less than a point, and Sarah Hauser took the women’s pro championship, posting the highest score in any division at the International Windsurfing Tour event.
Noireaux, who was already assured of the tour’s season title for the second time in four years, had a 17.10 in the final. Bernd Roediger (16.77) finished second, Kevin Pritchard (16.57) was third and Camille Juban (16.30) was fourth.
Hauser had a 17.40 in the final, with wave scores of 8.87 and 8.53. Tatiana Howard was the runner-up with a 14.37, followed by Vickey Abbot (13.70) and Shawna Cropas (13.23).
Hauser and Noireaux each finished first in all of their heats.
Hauser finished third in this year’s IWT rankings after taking the tour title in 2015 and 2016. Annamaria Zollet, who did not compete at Hookipa, is this year’s series champion.
Noireaux won his semifinal heat with a 17.26 and Roediger advanced with a 16.00. Levi Siver (15.00) was third and Kai Lenny (14.93) was fourth.
Pritchard had a 17.30 — the top men’s score of the contest — in the other semifinal, and Juban had a 16.86. Graham Ezzy bowed out after posting a 14.93, and Boujmaa Guilloul was fourth with an 11.67.
