Maui-born Victor among eight to sign with UH FB

Victor

The University of Hawaii football team received National Letters of Intent from eight prospects Wednesday, including a Maui-born player who was a prep star in Washington state.

Lincoln Victor was a dual-threat quarterback at Union High School in Vancouver, Wash. He scored 36 touchdowns in leading his team to the class 4A state championship and was named the state’s player of the year by multiple outlets.

The 5-foot-10, 165-pound Victor played in last month’s Polynesian Bowl at Aloha Stadium.

“It’s just full circle for me, especially being born there,” Victor was quoted as saying in a story posted on 247sports.com. “When I got the offer last spring, I told myself that God works in mysterious ways. I didn’t grow up there, we moved to Washington when I was little, but to go back and be raised there as a college athlete, that stuck with me.”

Victor is listed as an athlete, and could see time at receiver.

“So they have a need for slot receivers and if I work hard, I can come in and play as a freshman, but I know I have to work hard, nothing has ever been handed to me,” Victor said on 247sports.com.

The Rainbow Warriors also signed a pair of all-conference

JUCO defenders in defensive back Tavion Allen of Scottsdale Community College (Ariz.) and lineman Dijuan Matthews of Blinn College (Texas).

Other signees are all incoming freshmen: quarterback Boone Abbott of American Fork High School (Utah), wide receiver Mekel Ealy of Freedom (Calif.), offensive lineman Caden Hilborn of Highland (Utah), defensive back Travon Killins of Spruce Creek (Fla.) and defensive lineman Gabriel Iniguez of Pittsburg (Calif.).

In addition to the 13 signees from December’s early signing period, UH has inked 21 for the class of 2019.

The Rainbow Warriors start the season against Arizona on Aug. 24 at Aloha Stadium.

Starting at $4.62/week.
