Recent Maui High School graduate Mitchell Hirose (third from left) and his USA Stars teammates celebrate with their trophy after they won the U18 Can/Am championship at the Great North 7s tournament in Toronto last weekend. Hirose, who is headed to Central Washington University to play rubgy, scored the first try of the championship game against the USA Stripes — the USA Stars won 24-5. The division also included Canada’s U18 national team, which, like the U.S. team, was split into two squads.
