Cahill named assistant coach at Missouri

Baldwin High School graduate Jennifer Cahill has been hired as an assistant coach for the University of Missouri swimming and diving team, head coach Andrew Grevers announced Tuesday.

Cahill, who competed collegiately at Boise State, joins the Tigers after serving two seasons as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Vanderbilt.

“I would like to thank Coach Grevers and the rest of the athletic administration at Mizzou for this incredible opportunity,” Cahill said in a press release by the school. “I am very grateful to join the Mizzou family, and I look forward to this new journey as a Tiger!”

Calibuso-Kwee named to Hawaii team

Wailuku’s Lana Calibuso-Kwee will represent Hawaii at the Girls’ Junior America’s Cup, the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association announced Tuesday.

Calibuso-Kwee, a rising junior at Baldwin High School, will join Oahu’s Karissa Kilby and the Big Island’s Lacey Uchida and Yoonjeong Huh at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrietta, Ga., July 28-Aug. 1. The team is coached by Cathy Torchiana of Maui.

The tournament includes teams from the western U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Maui High fall sports tryout sessions set

Mandatory tryout sessions for Maui High School’s fall sports teams begin next week.

Students interested in playing should attend and have completed DOE Athletic Medical Physical and Consent, Risk, and Assumption of Risk forms in order to participate.

The tryouts schedule is as follows: football, Monday-July 26, 3-6 p.m., Maui High field; bowling, July 22 and 29, 2:30-4 p.m., Maui Bowling Center; girls volleyball, July 29-Aug. 8, 3:30-6 p.m., Shine Matsui Athletic Center; cross country, Aug. 5-17, 3:30-6 p.m., Maui High field; air riflery, Aug. 5-17, 3:30-6 p.m., Maui High tennis court.
