Hawaii Rush Maui girls make National Cup final
The Hawaii Rush Maui 03 girls earned a second-place finish at the U.S. Club Soccer National Club Finals, held July 19-23 in Commerce City, Colo.
Competing in the 16U girls premier division, Hawaii Rush Maui went undefeated in pool play to make the championship match. They started with a 4-2 victory over GPS NH of New Hampshire before beating VYS Phoenix of Virginia 2-0 and completing pool play with a 4-1 win over South MS SC Elite of Mississippi.
In the championship, Hawaii Rush Maui fell to UFA Norcross Premier of Georgia 3-1.
Members of the Hawaii Rush Maui 03 team were Kawehi Andrade, Teani Arakawa, Madelyn Dougherty, Olivia Dubach, Kira Francisco-Pu, Pomai Kealoha, Takara Lee Kiesel, Lexi Manuel, Jacylin Nakamura, Brynn Rodrigues, Kamahie Samudio, Sofia Stupplebeen, Bailey Ventura, Mackenzie Ventura, Jade Ramirez, Alexa Fritz and Alicia Welker. Coaches were Garth Nakamura and Brad Ventura.

Maui hoops players place high on Mainland
The Con 3 Jacks basketball team that included eight players from Maui recently finished a Mainland trip that included three top-four finishes in tournaments.
They were second in the West Coast Nationals in Las Vegas that ran from July 11-13 in the 14-under division, second in the Las Vegas Classic in the same division from July 16- 18 and then finished fourth in the 16-under division at the Triple Crown Western Championships from July 21-23.
They also took part in a showcase event, the EOT Summer Swoosh, from July 23-26.
Seven of the players were from King Kekaulike High School: Namahana Kaeo-Young, T.C. Pahukoa, Pa'a Pahukoa, Mary Pahukoa, Ledjan Pahukoa, Kylee Dee, and Elikapeka Ah Puck. Hoopena Ross, an Iao Intermediate School student, was also on the roster that included six players from Kauai.
