San Agustin, Kiffmann make AAU taekwondo national team

Miles Kiffmann and Jerico San Agustin of Kiffmann’s Maui Elite Taekwondo earned spots on the AAU national team after their high finishes at the AAU National Team Trials, held last week in Greensboro, N.C.

San Agustin, competing in the junior 15-17 black belt Olympic sparring 48-kilogram division, won all four of his matches at the team trials, including two victories over 2018 national team member Jaden Baxter by point gap. San Agustin will be representing the U.S. as a junior flyweight A-team member.

Kiffmann placed second in the 18-32 black belt Olympic sparring 68kg division, falling to Henry Beckwith in the final. Kiffmann will be a senior lightweight B-team member.

Both Kiffmann Taekwondo athletes will be representing the U.S. at several international competitions, starting with the Canada Open Championships, Oct. 4-6 in Montreal.
