Maui's Finn Spencer was eliminated from medal contention in men's stand-up paddleboard surfing at the Pan American Games on Saturday in Lima, Peru.

Spencer, who represented Canada, lost to Luiz Diniz of Brazil in the third repechage round, 13.14-10.17. The 15-year-old Spencer had needed a win in the heat in order to stay in the competition, which had its medalists decided Sunday.

In the men's volleyball tournament, Maui's Colton Cowell and the U.S. team ended its run at the Pan Am Games with a five-set loss to Puerto Rico in the fifth-place match.

Cowell had nine kills in the Americans' 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 20-25, 15-8 loss. Joe Worsley, who with Cowell helped lead the University of Hawaii to the NCAA championship match in the spring, added five points (three aces, one block, one kill) and fellow Rainbow Warrior Kupono Fey was the libero for the U.S.
