Senior McKenna Ross had a career-high 14 kills to lead the No. 11 University of Hawaii women's volleyball team to a 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24 win over Cal State Northridge on Saturday in Northridge, Calif.
Hanna Hellvig also had 14 kills, as well as 20 digs and four blocks, and Riley Wagoner added 11 kills, 10 digs and three blocks for the Rainbow Wahine (12-1, 2-0 Big West Conference). Norene Iosia and Bailey Choy each had 21 assists -- Iosia also had 12 digs -- and Brooke Van Sickle added seven kills and 10 digs.
UH barely outhit Northridge (.162 to .154) and was outblocked 11-8, but held a major advantage in digs, 76-59.
Nicole Nevarez had 13 kills and Lexi McLeod added 10 to lead the Matadors (5-9, 0-2).
The Rainbow Wahine next host UC Irvine on Friday.
