Rainbow Wahine sweep Anteaters; crucial Big West matches up next

Skylar Williams had a team-high nine kills and seven blocks to lead the 21st-ranked University of Hawaii women's volleyball team to a sweep of UC Irvine on Saturday in Irvine, Calif.

McKenna Ross added eight kills, three blocks and six digs as the Rainbow Wahine (13-3, 8-2 Big West Conference) won 27-25, 25-17, 25-21.

Norene Iosia had 14 assists, 10 digs and four blocks, and Bailey Choy and Kyra Hanawahine each had four of UH's 12 service aces. Choy also recorded 14 assists.

Cassie Stewart and Abby Marjama both posted 10 kills for the Anteaters (4-16, 1-7).

The Rainbow Wahine next have a pair of critical Big West matches as the top two teams in the conference come to town.

UH hosts UC Santa Barbara (18-2, 8-1) on Friday and Cal Poly (15-6, 8-1) next Sunday. In their first matchups earlier this month on the Mainland, the 'Bows were swept by Cal Poly before rebounding the next night to sweep UC Santa Barbara.
