Maui Invitational clinics set for November

Registration is open for this year's Maui Jim Maui Invitational Hoops Clinics presented by HMSA.

There are four free clinics scheduled -- two on Oahu, one on Lanai and one on Maui -- ahead of the premier men's college basketball tournament, which is set for Nov. 25-27 at Lahaina Civic Center.

The clinics are open to boys and girls in grades 3-8 and will feature instruction from tournament host Chaminade's coaches and players from the men's and women's basketball teams. Space is limited.

On Nov. 17, Lanai High School will host a clinic from noon to 2 p.m. (check-in at 11:30 a.m.).

In addition, there will also be a coaches clinic to follow -- from 2-3 p.m. (check-in at 1:30 p.m.) -- that is open to high school, middle school and community coaches. Instruction will be led by Chaminade men's coach Eric Bovaird and tournament chairman Dave Odom, the 1995 National Coach of the Year with Wake Forest.

To register for either Lanai clinic, contact Roderick Sumagit at (808) 565-7900.

A kids clinic will also be held on Nov. 23 at Lahaina Civic Center's Outdoor Dream Court. Check-in is at 1:30 p.m., with the clinic set for 2-3 p.m. To register, visit mauiinvitational.com/clinics.
