UH dominates CSUN, punches NCAA tourney ticket

McKenna Ross had 11 kills and seven digs, and the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team locked up at least a share of the Big West Conference title with a 25-18, 25-12, 25-14 victory over Cal State Northridge on Thursday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
The win moved the 18th-ranked Rainbow Wahine to 23-3 overall and 13-2 in Big West play — they clinched the conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament due to a tiebreaker over Cal Poly and can win the outright conference title with a win over Long Beach State on Senior Night tonight.
UH dominated the Matadors in every phase of the game. The ‘Bows outhit CSUN .398 to .105 while also holding advantages in blocks (10-2), digs (47-32) and aces (4-0).
Amber Igiede hit .571 with eight kills with no errors on 13 attempts and also had four blocks, and Hanna Hellvig added six kills and six digs for Hawaii.
Nicole Nevarez had 11 kills for the Matadors (12-16, 7-9).
