The Maui High School softball team opened its Maui Interscholastic League Division I season with a 12-7 win over King Kekaulike in a slugfest on Wednesday at Patsy Mink Field.
Kylenna Rieta smacked two triples to lead Maui High's 10-hit attack -- she scored three times and knocked in another run. Jer-Zee Ragasa and Eliana Ulufale each added two hits for the Sabers.
King Keualike (0-2) got a huge game from Taylor Sakamoto, who was 4-for-5 with a home run, triple and two runs scored. Kainea Anakalea hit two home runs for Na Alii in a 2-for-2 day that included three RBIs. Abby Gumtang also hit a homer for King Kekaulike.
