Former University of Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa cleared his four-month medical check last week and has resumed light football-related drills, NFL.com reported on Monday.
The Saint Louis School graduate is doing football drills, including dropping back and throwing and low-impact running, in preparation for the 2020 NFL Draft in April, according to a Monday report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tagovailoa's doctor, Lyle Cain.
Tagovailoa sustained a hip dislocation against Mississippi State in November that required surgery, ending his college career.
He had been on measured rehabilitation since then, but recently increased his on-field work.
Cain said the outlook is positive at the four-month mark, but he added that the left-handed quarterback still has several weeks to go before he will be ready to do NFL-type football activity. The rehab process moving forward will be "conservative," Cain said.
Tagovailoa said at the scouting combine last month that he will hold a Pro Day on April 9. He did not take part in any drills at the combine, but did go through a battery of medical exams and interviews with teams.
