Maui's Billy Kemper, Ian Walsh, Kai Lenny and Paige Alms are among the nominees for the 2020 Red Bull Big Waves Awards.
The nominees for the 20th anniversary of the awards were announced by the World Surf League on Monday. Each week, starting on July 27, one BWA category winner will be announced.
Kemper, who in December won his fourth Peahi title with a victory at the cbdMD Jaws Big Wave Championships, is up for three awards: Biggest Paddle, Best Overall Performance and Ride of the Year.
Walsh, who was runner-up at Peahi, is nominated for Biggest Paddle and Best Overall Performance, while Lenny is up for Best Overall Performance, Ride of the Year and has three entries for Biggest Wave.
Alms, who added her third Peahi women's title this winter, is nominated for Biggest Paddle twice, Best Overall Performance and Ride of the Year.
All of the Maui surfers' entries are from the home waters of Peahi, except for two of Lenny's Biggest Wave nominees that were from Nazare in Portugal on Feb. 11.
The award winners will be announced as follows: Wipeout of the Year (July 27), Biggest Paddle Award (Aug. 3), Overall Performer of the Year (Aug. 10), Biggest Wave Award (Aug. 17) and Ride of the Year (Aug. 24).
