Jadynn Alexander scored 17 points to lead a balanced attack, and the fifth-seeded University of Hawaii women's basketball team beat fourth-seeded Cal State Bakersfield 81-67 in the Big West Conference tournament Wednesday in Las Vegas.

Olivia Davies added 16 points, Daejah Phillips had 15 points and nine rebounds, and Kelsie Imai had 10 points for the Rainbow Wahine (9-7), who next face top-seeded UC Davis in Friday's semifinals at 10 a.m. Hawaii time.

UH -- which had lost both games against Bakersfield during the regular season, and held to a season-low 43 points in their last meeting Jan. 16 -- used a 17-3 run bridging the first and second halves to take a double-digit lead and held off every attempt by the Roadrunners to re-take the lead. The Rainbow Wahine led 39-36 at halftime en route to posting their highest point total of the season.

Andie Easley led Bakersfield (9-9) with 17 points.

The sixth-seeded UH men's team begins their tournament run today in the quarterfinals. The Rainbow Warriors take on third-seeded UC Riverside at 6 p.m. HST.
