UH releases ’21 football schedule; all homes games on Manoa campus

2 min read

The University of Hawaii announced its 2021 football schedule on Friday -- the 13-game slate starts with a non-conference matchup against UCLA on Aug. 28 in Pasadena, Calif.

The schedule has six home games, all of which will be played on campus at the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex. The facility will be retrofitted to host football games on the Manoa campus for the first time in school history.

There had been speculation that War Memorial Stadium on Maui might host a game or two after Aloha Stadium was deemed unfit for fans in December. A new stadium proposed for the Aloha Stadium site is not expected to be completed for at least three years.

UH's 2021 home opener is Sept. 4 against Portland State. The non-conference slate also includes a Sept. 11 date at Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., and a rare in-season, home-and-home series with New Mexico State -- Sept. 25 in Las Cruces, N.M., and Oct. 23 in Honolulu.

Mountain West Conference play begins with a home game Sept. 18 against defending league champion San Jose State. UH will also host league foes Fresno State (Oct. 2), San Diego State (Nov. 6) and Colorado State (Nov. 20) while traveling to Nevada (Oct. 16), Utah State (Oct. 30), UNLV (Nov. 13) and Wyoming (Nov. 27).

The Mountain West championship game is set for Dec. 4.

Ticket information for home games at Ching Complex will be announced at a later date. Attendance is still subject to state and county COVID-19 guidelines.
