UH improves to 12-0 with four-set win over CSUN

Rado Parapunov had a match-high 17 kills and eight digs, and the top-ranked University of Hawaii men's volleyball team remained undefeated after beating Cal State Northridge 25-17, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19 Friday in Northridge, Calif.

With his final kill -- a crosscourt shot that ended the match -- Parapunov tied Pono Ma'a for 11th on the school's all-time kills list (1,177).

King Kekaulike High School graduate Colton Cowell added 13 kills as the Rainbow Warriors improved to 12-0 overall and 7-0 in Big West Conference play. Cowell, returning after sitting out UH's five-set win over Long Beach State last Saturday with an ankle injury, hit .440 while also contributing six digs, three assists and a block.

Patrick Gasman and Chaz Galloway each had nine kills and five blocks for UH, which outhit CSUN .429 to .221.

Daniel Wetter led the Matadors (1-6, 1-6) with 14 kills. Maciej Ptaszynski added 10 kills.

The teams play again today.
