UH drops four-setter to USC

The University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team split a two-match series against Southern California on Saturday night, falling to the Trojans 21-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-23 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

For the seventh time in eight matches this season, Brooke Van Sickle led the Rainbow Wahine in kills, collecting 12 to go along with a team-high five blocks. Amber Igiede added 11 kills for Hawaii, which hit just .156 compared to .234 for USC.

UH, which had won a similarly close four-setter against USC on Friday night, fell to 3-5.

Brooke Botkin and Emilia Weske each had 16 kills, and Candice Denny had 10 kills and seven blocks for USC (4-4).

The Rainbow Wahine next open Big West Conference play at UC Riverside on Sept. 23.
