Spartans open season with sweep of Farmers

Malia Bennett had a match-high 15 kills as the Seabury Hall girls volleyball team defeated Molokai 25-13, 25-21, 25-22 on Friday night at “The Barn” in Hoolehua.
Kii Rilveria had 25 digs, Isabella Jardine added nine kills and three aces, and Caelyn Hasegawa had 26 assists for the Spartans.
The Farmers were led by Lia-Chae Meyer and Jordyn McCutcheon, who each had nine kills. Sadie Aiana had three aces and Daisci Burrows posted five kills and 20 assists.
The match, one of two on opening night of Maui Interscholastic League Division II play, was streamed on Akaku.
n HANA 3, LANAI 1: At Lanai City, Tyra Perry had 16 kills and an ace, and Pumehana Park added 13 kills, three aces and an assist to help the Dragons rally past the Pine Lasses 20-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-12.
Clara Asay had four kills, three aces and two blocks, Pristine Perry had 27 assists, five aces and a kill, Briseis Keaulana added four aces and seven digs, and Naarah Hoopai-Feliciano had three aces for Hana.
Statistics for Lanai were not reported.
