Baldwin, Kamehameha Maui boys play to 1-1 draw

The Maui Interscholastic League boys soccer season is just one week old, but the battle for the Division I title is alreaday shaping up to be a close one after the Baldwin High School and Kamehameha Maui teams played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday at Kanaiaupuni Stadium in Pukalani.
Subaru Thompson put the Bears ahead with his goal in the 16th minute before the Warriors got the equalizer from Kayden Medeiros in the 21st minute. The teams remained scoreless the rest of the match.
With the result, Baldwin (1-0-1) entered a tie with defending league champion King Kekaulike for first place in the MIL standings, with Kamehameha Maui — which opened the season with a 1-1 tie against Na Alii — a couple of points back at 0-0-2.
The Bears and Na Alii face off on Wednesday, while the Warriors host Division-II Seabury Hall, the only perfect team remaining at 2-0-0.
