Junior Madut scored 16 points and Noel Coleman had his first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the University of Hawaii men's basketball team to a 65-53 victory over UC San Diego on Thursday in San Diego.

Bernardo da Silva and Kamaka Hepa each added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Rainbow Warriors (13-8), who won their second straight. The game did not count toward the Big West standings as UCSD continues its transition to the Division I level.

The 'Bows held the Tritons (11-14) to just 53 points -- one off their season-best -- and 35 percent shooting.

Bryce Pope led UCSD with 15 points.

The Rainbow Warriors next play at UC Irvine on Saturday.

On Thursday night, the UH women's basketball team saw a furious fourth-quarter rally fall just short as the Rainbow Wahine lost to UC San Diego 62-60 in Honolulu.

Down 46-32 after three quarters, chipped away in the fourth, eventually getting within 55-52 on a 3-pointer by Olivia Davies with 2:51 remaining. Kelsie Imai later tied it up at 60-60 with a layup with 26 seconds to go, but Julia Macabuhay nailed a last-second jumper to give the Tritons the win.

Daejah Phillips led the Rainbow Wahine (12-9, 8-3 Big West) with 24 points and seven rebounds.

Macabuhay finished with 20 points for UCSD (10-13, 7-7).

UH next hosts UC Irvine on Saturday.
