Christian Dominno launched a three-run homer as part of Baldwin High School's 12-hit day, and the Bears opened their Maui Interscholastic League schedule with a 15-6 victory over King Kekaulike on Tuesday evening.
Dominno, a sophomore infielder, sent the ball out of Maehara Stadium in the second inning and then added a run-scoring single in the third. He went 4 for 4 in the game.
The Bears (1-0) also got two hits apiece from Makane Honokaupu and Isiah Kekahuna.
B.A. Oto got the win on the mound for Baldwin, throwing five shutout innings. He struck out six while allowing two hits and two walks.
Kalai Chong-Ornellas was 2 for 3 with an RBI for Na Alii (1-3).
• MAUI HIGH 7, LAHAINALUNA 0: In the day's first game at Maehara, Luke Alwood led off the top of the sixth inning with a home run to help the Sabers improve to 3-1.
Back-to-back RBI doubles from Haiden Sanchez and Nicholas Nashiwa got Maui High started in a three-run second inning. The pair also both doubled in the seventh -- Nashiwa's hit driving in Sanchez -- and Alwood's RBI line drive single to left capped the scoring.
Sabers starter Jonah Richardson fanned eight over six shutout innings.
The Lunas fell to 1-3.
