Maui’s Liotta, Boverman help Team Hawaii win ISA World Junior championship

Shion Crawford (left) and Kai Martin hold the trophy as members of Team Hawaii celebrate their team title at the ISA World Junior Championship in Surf City, El Salvador, on Sunday. Haiku’s Nora Liotta and Haylee Boverman were members of the 12-surfer squad that gave Hawaii its first team gold since 2014 and fourth overall. Liotta, competing in the girls U18 division, advanced through three repechage heats before bowing out in the ninth round. Boverman’s run in girls U16 ended in the fourth repechage round. Australia took silver, while Team USA placed third.
